An exciting race with lots of racing & strategy.

4.5/10 – Very little true wheel to wheel racing. It was basically tire wear passing only and Max being cautious to cement his WDC. Otherwise we might have had some good racing. Hulkenberg getting passed Tsunoda with Alonso all over Hulk’s wing until Hulk finally got passed was really the only hard fought multi-lap battle and even that was a tire wear fight with Hulk having much fresher tires.

I’ll add that even the few times it kind of looked interesting w/multiple cars mixing it up on the long drive to T1 it was only due to strategies over lapping on track (running long vs recently pitted).

Judging by the votes so far, this is an easy to please crowd or equally likely, a lot of happy Max and Lewis fans (+a few for GR) were entertained by the results + they did get to see both breeze by a number of cars.

For me as a neutral, I usually prefer seeing at least one battle where a driver is having to fight defensively against another for a few laps at least, and not just seeing constant DRS overtakes. There was no real tension at all here, because the team hierarchy was so pronounced. Merc were clearly the best team, Ferrari clearly second best, Max (well Max is Max, he was clearly quicker than the McLarens but that car wasn’t better than the Ferraris), then the McLarens. None of them were closely matched, so it just didn’t lend itself to be an exciting race unfortunately, and turned out to be the case, at least for me. Almost all the passes were very much a ‘after you’ type situation, as the drivers were also aware nothing was worth contesting because of the obvious differences between the teams here. There was some reasonable action at the lower end of the points though to be fair.

As Lewis and Max fan i found the race ‘interesting’ the 2023 race was beter but it was not a snorefest. so a 7 from me. The last stint was all tyres.

I thought it was thoroughly entertaining. George looked to have it covered but it was anyone’s race behind. Disappointing showing from McLaren. Hopefully a track specific issue and not a sign of things to come.

Sorry for the report, pushed the wrong button.
The fact that Russell had it all covered made it a less enjoyable race in my opinion. No real fight for the lead. Together with the high quantity of DRS drive-by’s this made I only thought this was a mediocre race.
Still easily the best “real” street race of the season (I don’t count Canada as a streetrace).

It was fine but not one that’s likely to be remembered outside a statistic.

I would have given a 6, but chose for a 7 because of the way Perez overtook Lawson and Magnusen.

Decent race, but gotta retract one for that stupid limo ride and post race interview.
I love Terry Crews, but being there only to get the drivers to talk about Vegas was just useless. Made him look like an idiot with a mic not really knowing what to do.

5/10 from me as while there was a lot of action most of it was cars on new tires easily passing cars on old tires and there was just generally very little actually competitive genuine racing for position.
And I also just can’t stand this track. I think it’s unimaginative, dull and soul-less so watching the cars lapping just doesn’t especially excite me which automatically makes watching that bit less exciting for me.
This whole event is the definition of what I think is wrong with F1 & why I dislike the direction Liberty are taking it. It’s just all about the show and artificial glitz/glamour which just ends up with the whole thing feeling very soul-less.
I mean you compare this event with most of the others, including COTA and it just feels flat & lifeless because there’s no passion to it.
If events like this are the future of the sport then I don’t think I want to stick around because i’d much rather see more races take place on exciting circuits that have an atmosphere created by passionate fans rather than a corporate event like the Las Vegas show.

I’m giving it a 5/10 as while it wasn’t necessarily a bad race or anything I just really struggled to get into it & can’t say that I really enjoyed it all that much despite the action that was going on.
Part of it is down the fact that I just don’t like this circuit and just don’t get any enjoyment out of watching cars driving around it. It’s like Miami, Jeddah, Sochi, Valencia & Abu Dhabi in that regard. Circuits that even when there’s good action going on I just don’t enjoy because I just don’t enjoy watching cars driving around what I consider to me truly abysmal & unenjoyable circuits.
And maybe another part of my enjoying it less was down to the fact that this was the first GP in 30 years that I didn’t watch live which I had the ability to watch Live (I word it that way there were a few races which ITV didn’t air live or which were shown on ITV2 when I didn’t have access to that channel). And the reason I opted not to watch it live was purely because I had no interest in getting up at 6am to watch a race around a pig of circuit I simply don’t enjoy watching.

OK race around one of the worst excuses for a race track currently used in F1.
And I think the lack of comments in posts surrounding this awful liberty vanity project tells you all you need to know about what true F1 fans think of this pathetic show over sport vanity event.
Terrible circuit, terrible event!

– Run around the block track, devoid of any soul.
– Obviously aimed at Asian market, and succeeded in ignoring American market in the process. Start time was oh dark thirty for 2/3 of the American fans, but prime time for Hong Kong I guess. I’m a fan and yet had a devil of a time finding qual and start times in the popular press! And 3 weeks after prior race… seriously lost any momentum in 3 weeks of football coverage, didn’t they?
– The complaints about any temp street circuit still persist — locals claiming that they didn’t make any more money for their hassles (or lost money), traffic issues, etc etc.
– If the money 1) didn’t come in from more than 300 miles away and 2) displace outside money you’d already have gotten, then it’s not a “economic gain”, you’re just passing around local money. It’s not like the local venues would’ve otherwise be empty, right? Prices for this years lodging and tix were, what, half of last year, and still declines in attendance?
– Big winners were the corps with the bright signs alongside the track, I suspect they love the event.

That’s not how economics works! The size of economic activity is how much money/value is passed around. Spending locally the same dollar various times* will grow an economy whereas saving does not (except for the returns).
The one thing you need to be cautious of is ‘opportunity costs’; what would people have spent if there were no race.
* you buy a t-shirt, with this money the stall owners buys a beer, with this money the bartender buys some cigarettes, with this money kiosk owner goes to a girlie show, and with this money the dancer buys some cereal to feed her kids.

Went with my gut and gave a – perhaps generous – 7. Although the superficial glitz, glamour, and excess is one of my least favourite aspects of the US of A, it is also something that underpins my early F1 memories and the ‘playboy’ nature of some of the drivers. And yes, I know this is not the race itself, but it is so prevalent that it is an inescapable part of the race atmosphere.
Having said that, many of the criticisms raised seem fair. Many. Not all.
But there was still enough uncertainty through the field to maintain my interest throughout, and being a Ham fan, I enjoyed his climb up through the field whilst it lasted. Even of I was less impressed by his implication that he would have won if he’d qualified where he should have done, even if he seemed to backtrack on that a little in subsequent interviews (of course he may of done, but it feels like an unnecessary slightly egotistical claim).
Hmmm. Now I have written this post I am definitely thinking I should have gone with a six. I guess it’s one of those ‘heart’ vs ‘head’ things.
How anyone considers themselves objective in any way to vote a 10 or 1 is beyond me though. Unless Russell and Gasly both voted.

Good race, but only because the predicted 2 stop strategy switched to a 3 stop when the teams realised the tyre degs were more than expected. It certainly spiced up a potential procession though and it was good to see Lewis finally get some pace out of the merch.
I am English and I must say that I can’t bring myself to like Russel. Can’t quite place it and even feel bad about it! Give me Norris, Hamilton or button any day

I really liked it, so much action, so many overtakes, hamilton’s recovery really helped too, having a fast car out of position, this has nothing to do with being a fan of who won or had a good result, I was considering a 9 at one point but I’d have been one of the few, so 8 it is.
I’m absolutely convinced the ones who gave it average ratings like 5 or so do that because they don’t like the track or the event itself, not how the actual race went.
We’ve had 2 races in vegas so far, both great, starts to be hard to call it a coincidence.
