Welcome to Friday’s edition of the RaceFans round-up.
Comment of the day
There isn’t enough room on the 2026 F1 calendar for all the events being held this year – and Mike reckons Imola will be the one to go:
I’m sure it will be Imola, though I wish it would be Mexico. Vegas is goofy but it’s at least better suited for modern wide F1 cars. Imola is special but there’s too many strikes against it continuing. Mexico is boring, either too much DRS and fake passing, or not enough and a procession. I suppose they could tighten up turns 7-11 for more wrecks and safety cars if they wanted more fake excitement.

I would love to go sledging around Brands Hatch! Paddock Hill Bend would be epic.

Congratulations! Yes it can be a poisoned chalice… But it’s always an honour anyway.

Congrats! But your right with your remarks most classic tracks are in danger to getting droped as they want streetraces anyway.

@nanotech Yes, and I agree with your comments. It will most likely be Imola that gets dropped, unless Mexico shows a huge downturn in interest after the departure of Checo, which is possible I suppose. Imola is the much better circuit though, with Mexico being one of my least favourites on the calendar in its current form.

Is the post-season driver rankings not happening this year? @keithcollantine

The strange thing is that usually it comes after all the team mate battle articles came out, but those seem to have suddenly stopped in favour of other articles.

@esploratore Yeah, it’s strange. I look forward to the rankings article every year, have since 2008, more than half my life lol. It’s really disappointing if it’s been stopped.

So a street circuit instead of Kyalami, after all.

Would’ve preferred that, as I wasn’t around to watch at the times when they raced there.
