Welcome to Sunday’s edition of the RaceFans round-up.

Comment of the day

Was yesterday the start of a great season for Yuki Tsunoda?

Without wishing any ill to either Lawson or Hadjar, I would really like to see Yuki totally dominate both of them this season and be a constant concern for Max/Red Bull.

I feel that the Red Bull elite have treated Yuki very poorly.

Hamilton: I’ve struggled with depression from a very early age (The Times)

'I ask if he has ever seen a therapist. 'I spoke to one woman, years ago, but that wasn’t really helpful. I would like to find someone today.''

George and Kimi qualify fourth and 16th in Australia (Mercedes)

'(Antonelli) did his very best to get the car through to Q2 but, even if he had been able to do so, it’s unlikely that we would have been able to make the necessary repairs to get him back out there.'

Sprint race: Duerksen in dominant form as he takes victory in Melbourne (F2)

'The AIX Racing driver managed two Safety Car restarts and held off Invicta Racing’s Leonardo Fornaroli to win the race. The Italian came across the line in second ahead of Hitech TGR’s Luke Browning, who rounded out the podium.'

Sprint race: Ramos resists the pressure to take maiden F3 win (F3)

'Van Amersfoort Racing’s Santiago Ramos was able to secure his first victory in FIA Formula 3, holding off Hitech TGR driver Martinius Stenshorne for the win in the Melbourne sprint race. Rodin Motorsport driver Roman Bilinski made an impressive debut in the championship, securing the final spot on the podium.'

'He’ll have a blast': Mansell, the lion of Ferrari, has high hopes for Hamilton (The Guardian)

'You’re in a canteen with 30 to 40 people all at the table sitting directly opposite and he would just move his hand and from 120 decibels the whole restaurant went stony silent.'

  1. Hamilton talks of the pressure of racing as a young lad, and meanwhile F1 teams are plastering 10 year old ‘singings’ on their social media.

Not sure what needs to happen, but the whole speak needs a wake up call.

  2. Thanks for the Cotd.
I thought Yuki was going to exceed my wildest dreams for a while there during the race ;)

  3. If you are highly functional, you are not depressed. You are maybe not dealing with something, or avoidant, or something but its probably not depression. Depression is lying in bed all day and your life going down the drain. This guy does not exhibit having depression.

If there is anything that I could say, is maybe that hes’ too vigilant or interested in what other people think or trying to manage expectations, probably because hes been very career oriented for so long, that he might have missed ‘growing up in certain dimensions’. And to that, there are books, interesting thinkers like Carl Jung, philosophy, doing different stuff, having fun, and people you can trust. The later being the hardest when you have had so much success and a large bank account.
